The Gameplayer $4k Championship was held at Christchurch Armageddon Expo on March 28, 2009. This was the first major tournament in New Zealand since the introduction of the new Forbidden and Limited list on March 1. The debate over whether Gladiator Beasts or Lightsworn / Twilight would trump the new format was laid to rest.... at least for one day!
