Gameplayer Tournament Hall will not attend Armageddon Expo 2010.
(January 29, 2010) – Over the past 5 years Gameplayer Ltd has delivered fans of Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game the highest quality Official Tournaments with exciting prizes that have made the Armageddon Expo tournament hall a special occasion for those who attend. Our dedication to continual improvement is highlighted by Gameplayer’s “Win-a-flight to Shonen Jump” at Armageddon Auckland 2008, and with support from Hobby Co in 2009 the back to back “$4k Championships” at Armageddon Christchurch & Wellington and the unprecedented “$15,000 Yu-Gi-Oh! Weekend” at Armageddon Auckland.
It is important to both Gameplayer and Hobby Co that the loyal Yu-Gi-Oh! players across New Zealand receive great value and rewards from our marketing budget each year. After reviewing the costs to run the Gameplayer Tournament Hall at Armageddon Expo, it has become obvious that Armageddon Expo is not a value for money use of the marketing budget.
In keeping with our tradition of continual improvement, the money that would have been spent attending Armageddon Expo will instead be put into a new Regional Organized Play Series run through Official Hobby Stores, Official Clubs and Official Tournament Organisers. The proposal for this new Tournament Series has been submitted and is pending approval from Konami. We hope to announce the details mid-February and see the first events start early March.
We thank you for your continued support of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game and hope you enjoy the new Tournament Series and high level Championship Tournaments, Gameplayer in partnership with Hobby Co will bring you in 2010.
